Business Our Manifesto Environment Safety 7 4 Check in conversations are essential – they are about how you are doing and your work. More than 80% of our managers have had the My contribution training and understand the importance of these conversations. They don’t have to be formal but check in conversations should happen regularly. 5 It’s easiest to learn the My contribution system by going in and ‘playing’. Just like with any app, you can click around the system and learn what it does more easily than following a written guide. Put 20 minutes in your calendar, log in and explore. It’s the fastest way to understand the system. As you’d expect for a new system, even one that is far simpler than before, there were plenty of questions. The team has shared what they’ve learned below: 1 People who added objectives, activities and achievements throughout the year found the whole system much easier at year end – everything they wanted to show was there already. When you log in to OPMS for your timebooking, spend 2 minutes to add anything relevant to the My contribution system. 2 People’s work changed throughout the year due to pandemic restrictions and many need to roll over objectives they didn’t complete to this year, or to take a longer-term view of their work. To carry over an objective, simply select the “copy from other goal and objective plan” option when you select the “add objective/goal” option from the top of the screen. More information can be found here. 3 You can request feedback from a specific person about a particular activity. This can be a great way of learning or improving, particularly if you are doing something new. Ask for feedback from your colleagues, as well as managers, they will have a different of what’s helpful and what might be done differently. Top tip Top tip Top tip Last month more people than ever used the My contribution system as they completed their first ever end of year snapshot that showed contribution, objectives, team goals and feedback for the year.
