Our Sellafield - May 2021

Updates Evolve Finance News May 2021 Our Sellafield 4 Chief executive column Eyes on the future As I write I’m reflecting on our first Manifesto Stand-Up, which took place on 22 April and gave everybody the opportunity to think about our Manifesto and how we are role modelling it and bringing it to life in everything we do. I felt it was a really engaging day. Around 3,000 attended our executive manifesto sessions, with thousands more attending local change maker sessions. I was really pleased that the executive had the opportunity to have an open and honest conversation about our own journey with the manifesto, including any reservations we had and changes we needed to make to our own behaviours to role model it. The majority of these sessions were run through Microsoft Teams with a dial-in facility for those without a personal device or WiFi. This reminds us that none of that would have been possible without the major changes we have seen in the way we communicate – so many of which have been brought in as a result of Covid-19 and the ongoing lockdown. We shouldn’t lose sight of the tremendous gains we have made in the way we interact in the virtual world. Technology like Microsoft Teams can and should remain part of what we do and how we do it. The opportunities it brings for increasing the pace of what we do, reducing costs and improving people’s working lives cannot be underestimated. The targets we’ll use when working out our annual bonus will be published this month. We have chosen them to be stretching but also to show everyone how they can contribute to a successful outcome for us all, helping to create a clean and safe environment for future generations. Please take some time to have a look and discuss with your teams. Finally, thank you to everyone who entered this year’s Wave Awards. Appreciating and celebrating achievements is, of course, a cornerstone of our manifesto behaviours and I am so pleased that we were able to do it – virtually, again – and celebrate some of the astonishing work done at such a time of change and confusion. We should all be very proud of everything we have achieved this year. Be kind and stay safe, Martin Chown BUSINESS WE CARE ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY AND ENVIRONMENT
