Business Our Manifesto Environment Safety 15 WE CARE ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY AND ENVIRONMENT The magnificent 7 – PPP’s business case benefits PPP’s full business case benefits include increased value for money for the UK taxpayer, improved predictability of cost and schedule outturn, accelerated high hazard reduction, new opportunities for Sellafield Ltd and its people, enhanced employment opportunities for project personnel, enhanced reputation (improved stakeholder confidence) and Sellafield Ltd being recognised for project excellence. The opportunities also contribute to benefits such as schedule certainty, quality, health and safety, sustainability and social impact. So far 137 potential benefits have been identified across projects and programmes, with a potential saving over the 20 years of £100million. Seven of the benefits identified have already been accepted and validated, saving £14.5million. Creating opportunities PPP isn’t just about delivering the infrastructure we need to empty our ponds and silos – it also has a 20-year commitment to make an impact in our communities. The PPP internship scheme is providing opportunities to young people who face additional barriers to employment but have the enthusiasm and drive to succeed. The PPP will be doing this every year, offering opportunities and training to young people. The scheme has been created by the PPP social impact team in collaboration with Inspira, Cumbria Youth Alliance and Job Centre Plus. Changing the way we deliver The first project brought into the PPP was our Sellafield Product and Residue Store Retreatment Plant (SRP) – and one of PPP’s biggest achievements this year was setting the baseline for the billion-pound project. Sellafield Ltd, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), PPP’s four Lot partners and our supply chain worked together to develop the design, delivery strategy, schedule, estimate, risk model and incentivisation objectives to the agreement of all parties.
