Updates Evolve Finance News August 2020 Our Sellafield What happens when you have a waiting list of people for a course and lockdown begins? If you’re Sandra Torney, compensation and benefits advisor, the answer is ‘find another, maybe better, way’. “The retirement planning seminars that we offer have always been pretty popular. “Retirement is a big change and should be planned. That’s what the classroom courses focused on, 12 people learning how to plan for their retirement. “These ground to a stop with lockdown but we realised that it could be the perfect time for these seminars. Lots of people were at home, maybe spending more time with their families, and having to think about how they spend time in a different way. “The people that run the sessions, the Centre for Leadership Performance, suggested trialling using Zoom, instead of being classroom based. “I wasn’t sure how it would work but we made a few changes, including halving the number of attendees, and had a couple of pilot sessions – they were great. “We’ve now had 66 people do the seminar by Zoom and we’ve had brilliant feedback. “Although we’ve made this change because of lockdown, we’re considering keeping it. It makes attending the course simpler for the individual and there are no travel costs for the business. “We’ve even had people contact us after they’ve heard about it from friends. “If anyone wants to book on, they should email
[email protected] “Of course, the important thing is that the sessions are just the start. “What makes it really valuable is that it gives people the tools to plan what they could do next, what conversations they could have with their families and how to start planning for what they want, when they want it – whether that’s in the next 6 months or the next 10 years.” News Retirement Planning goes online
